BMW To Donate Vehilce To Students At J. Harley Bonds Career Center
Donation Ceremony on May 23 at 10 a.m.
Local automotive technicians-in-training will be present when Dan Doot, technical service manager of the BMW Performance Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina, hands over the keys to a 2006 BMW 325i on Wednesday, May 23, at 10 a.m. at the J. Harley Bonds Career Center, located at 505 North Main Street in Greer, South Carolina. The vehicle will be used as an educational resource for area students interested in pursuing careers as automotive service technicians. The J. Harley Bonds Career Center offers a comprehensive automotive technician training curriculum at the high school vocational/technical level and has been an active Automotive Youth Educational Systems (AYES) technical high school since 2005.
“With this donation, the students at the J. Harley Bonds Career Center will be able to cultivate the skills necessary to achieve their professional goals,” said Doot. “We are proud to be able to assist in the career development of auto technicians in this country, and being able to hone their skills on such a technologically advanced vehicle will help ensure their future success.”
Added Wayne Rhodes, director of the J. Harley Bonds Career Center, “This is a tremendous gift from BMW, and we look forward to all the knowledge and experience we can gain from it. Our students have a passion for this industry, and help from a company such as BMW truly demonstrates their commitment to the next generation of technicians in the area.”
This AYES donation is the fourth of its kind from the BMW Performance Center to South Carolina schools. Past recipients include the R.D. Anderson Career Center in Moore; the Pendleton Career Center in Anderson; and the Heyward Career Center in Columbia.
